A house fire, even a small one, leaves damage that goes well beyond what burned. Smoke and soot work their way into everything, and the water used to put the fire out causes its own damage. On top of that you have an insurance claim to work through, and your home may not be livable.
This is what we do. Vintage Reconstruction has handled residential insurance claims day to day since 1987. We are not an emergency cleanup crew that dries the place out and hands you off to someone else. We are a general contractor that rebuilds everything the fire, the smoke, and the firefighting damaged, and works with your carrier so the full scope of the loss is covered. You get one point of contact from the first walkthrough to the finished home, and we keep you updated the whole way.
Fire is one of several kinds of loss we handle. We also repair storm, hail, and wind damage across Boerne, and we manage every insurance claim the same way, from the first inspection to the finished home.
From an electrical short in a single room to a kitchen grease fire, we have handled a wide range of fire losses. We repair the structure itself, along with the damage smoke and soot leave behind on walls, ceilings, and surfaces throughout the home.
We also handle the secondary damage that comes with putting a fire out, like water intrusion and broken windows, and we restore detached structures such as garages when they are affected. Because we document and price the entire loss in Xactimate, the whole scope goes to your carrier, and you are put back together better than you were before the fire.
Home fires happen everywhere, from a kitchen grease fire to an electrical short, but Boerne and the rest of Kendall County also live with real wildfire risk. The county adopted a Community Wildfire Protection Plan in 2023 with the Texas A&M Forest Service and the City of Boerne, because the rugged Hill Country canyons funnel flames and the drought-dried brush and high-oil cedar make ready fuel. Conditions got serious enough that Kendall County issued a wildfire disaster declaration in early 2025.
When a fire does damage a Boerne home, whatever the cause, we are the local contractor that rebuilds it and handles the claim, so you are not left coordinating a cleanup company, a separate contractor, and your insurance carrier on your own.
Vintage Reconstruction is a family-owned general contractor in Boerne. We have handled insurance claims day to day since 1987, so we know how to document a fire loss and work with your carrier to get the full scope covered.

The national cleanup franchises focus on the emergency phase and often hand the rebuild to someone else. We are the rebuild. One superintendent coordinates every trade, we pull the permits and call the inspections, and every crew carries General Liability and Workers' Comp insurance. When the work is done, your home is put back whole, better than it was before the fire.
Our Step By Step Process
Notify Your Carrier & Contact Us
Start by notifying your insurance carrier and file a claim to get the process moving. Once you have the claim number, reach out to us to start the process of repairing your property.
Review & Planning
We meet with you to go over the adjuster’s estimate and ensure every necessary repair is included. We’ll help you finalize material selections and set a realistic time frame before any work begins.
We Complete The Repairs
Sit back and let our team handle the entire repair process, providing documentation and photos from the start. We finish with a final walk through to make sure every detail is handled correctly.
Experience a Fully Restored Home
Once the final walk through is complete and the site is clean, you get to experience your home exactly as it should be. You can settle back into a space that is safe, comfortable, and fully restored!
We manage reconstruction for property damage caused by water, fire, smoke, hail, wind, vandalism, and vehicle impacts. We also handle specialized cases such as tornado damage and estate or death claims.
Yes. We carry full General Liability and Workers’ Compensation insurance to protect your property and our crews throughout the project.
Yes. Since we are already on-site and the home is often already "opened up" for repairs, this is the most cost-effective time to make changes. We can help you move walls, change your floor plan, or upgrade your materials beyond what the insurance covers. You can learn more about our remodel services on our remodel page here.
We use Xactimate and Symbility, the same estimating software used by the insurance industry. This ensures our pricing stays consistent with what adjusters expect to see for home repairs.
Vintage Reconstruction handles the entire permitting process, including filing paperwork and coordinating all required city or county inspections.
If we find unforeseen damage during the job, we discuss it directly with your insurance carrier. For any elective upgrades you request, we provide a price estimate for your approval before that work begins.
We provide a warranty on all work once the project is finished, the final invoice is paid, and you have signed a Certificate of Satisfaction.
We set up a dedicated communication method, typically via text or email, between you and your assigned superintendent. You’ll receive regular updates and photos from start to finish.
You are responsible for your policy deductible, any unrecoverable depreciation, and the cost of any elective upgrades or change orders not covered by your insurance.
This depends on the scale of the damage. For smaller repairs, you can usually stay home. For major renovations where utilities are interrupted, it may be better to stay elsewhere temporarily.
If necessary, we can coordinate the packing, moving, and storage of your contents. We can store items on-site in a portable container or off-site at a secure facility.
A Vintage superintendent is assigned to your project to coordinate all trades and timelines. They serve as your single point of contact and ensure the work is done correctly.
Yes. Many homeowners choose to add extra projects while we are already there, such as painting rooms that weren't damaged or replacing a front door. We simply treat this as a separate "non insurance" portion of the contract and provide a clear estimate for the additional labor and materials.
No. Your insurance policy is designed to pay for the cost of "like kind and quality" materials, but you aren't forced to use them. For example, if you had carpet that was damaged, you can apply the insurance allowance toward the cost of installing hardwood or tile instead. You just pay the difference in material costs.
We separate the costs. Your insurance carrier pays for the "like kind and quality" repairs to get you back to your original state. We then provide a separate estimate for the "overage" the difference in cost for higher-end materials or additional square footage that you choose to add.
