After the Storm, We Handle the Claim and the Rebuild

A bad hail or wind storm can leave your Boerne home with damage you can see and plenty you cannot. On top of that, you have an insurance claim to file and an adjuster to deal with, which is the last thing anyone wants after a storm.

This is what we do. Vintage Reconstruction has handled residential insurance claims day to day since 1987. We are not a roofing crew that patches the roof and moves on. We are a general contractor that documents the full loss, prices it in the same estimating software your insurance company uses, works with your carrier so the whole scope is covered, and rebuilds everything the storm damaged. You get one point of contact from the first inspection to the final walkthrough, and we keep you updated the whole way.

Hail and wind are one of several kinds of loss we handle. We also restore Boerne homes after fire and smoke damage, and we manage every insurance claim the same way, from the first inspection to the finished home.

What Storm & Hail Damage We Repair

After a storm with hail or high winds, it is not always obvious what has been affected, especially on the roof. We evaluate the whole property and repair everything the storm damaged, not just the roof.

We inspect and repair composition and asphalt shingles, metal-coated shingles, standing seam metal roofs, tile roofing, flat roof systems, and roof coatings, with a full re-roof when it is needed.

A hail or wind claim usually reaches more than the roof, so we also handle gutters, siding, vinyl trim, chimney work, carports, screens, windows, and exterior painting, plus detached structures like garages.

A hail claim is rarely just the roof, and the pieces a roofing crew skips are often what gets left off the estimate. Because we document and price the entire loss in Xactimate, the whole scope goes to your carrier, and any interior damage from a roof leak gets repaired too.

Boerne Sits in the Hill Country Hail Corridor

Hail is a fact of life here. Boerne sits in the hail corridor that runs through Kendall County, and homes in the area take damaging hail every few years. The storms usually track in from the southwest, so the south and west-facing slopes of a roof tend to get hit hardest. Across Texas there were more than 1,200 hailstorms between 2012 and 2021, some causing over a billion dollars in damage in a single event.

Texas wind and hail policies also carry a separate deductible, often one to two percent of your dwelling coverage. That is one more reason to make sure the entire loss is captured, not just the obvious roof damage. We know what these Hill Country storms do to a home, and we make sure the full scope of the damage makes it into your claim.

A Boerne Contractor, Not Just a Roofing Crew

Vintage Reconstruction is a family-owned general contractor in Boerne. We have handled insurance claims day to day since 1987, so we know what adjusters look for and what commonly gets missed on a first estimate.

Vintage replaced my roof due to hail damage in 2021. They also replaced the clear plastic panels on my greenhouse roof that was also destroyed by hail. 2 years later, the once clear panels turned brown and appeared almost burnt looking. After some discussion with the owner, they agreed to replace the greenhouse roof under warranty. That’s what good customer service looks like.

This company has been a complete delight to work with. They were recommended to me by my homeowners insurance after a flood and they were the second company I went with after the first company was horrible and uncommunicative. Vintage Reconstruction was a godsend. They communicated at every step of the process, worked really quickly, and the work was done extremely well. They also took feedback well and touched up anything I was concerned about. Every one they sent to do work was friendly and respectful. I highly highly recommend them, they made a horrible situation that much easier by managing and taking care of everything! They even packed and moved all of the things that were in the way of painting and brought in a cleaning crew afterwards. My house looks better now than it did before! They’re also very responsive to communication and I never had to wait more than an hour or two to hear back from them. Do yourself a favor and go with them. Save yourself a lot of headaches! See the photos for the before and after!

After a nightmare flood and vandalism that caused over $60,000 worth of damage to my home, Vintage Reconstruction was recommended by my insurance adjuster who has trusted them for over 30 years—and I can see why. From the very start, Leon and Mike showed incredible professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail. Their workmanship is absolutely outstanding. The cleaners, flooring, and baseboards were done to perfection, and every step of the process was handled with care and precision. Leon and Mike went above and beyond, ensuring that nothing was overlooked and that my home was restored better than I ever imagined. What truly sets Vintage apart is their work ethic and integrity. Every member of the team showed respect for my home, communicated clearly, and followed through on their promises. In such a stressful situation, having a company I could fully trust made all the difference. I cannot sing their praises enough—Vintage Reconstruction is an amazing team of professionals who deliver excellence at every level. If you are facing the overwhelming challenge of restoring your home, I highly recommend Vintage without hesitation. They are simply the best.

We are repeat customers of Vintage Reconstruction. This project was even bigger than the last. Mike was our project manager through the remodel of our kitchen, family room and casual dining space. The new hardwood floors, countertops, cabinets and paint look great. The house has never looked better. Mike was professional and courteous. His attention to detail was second to none. He even resolved a few issues that were not his problems. We would definitely recommend and use in the future.

As a commercial real estate investor and broker with over 25 years of experience, I highly recommend Vintage Reconstruction for their professionalism, expertise, and dependable service. As a landlord of NNN properties, our tenants have contractual obligations to maintain and repair the buildings they occupy. When tenants request assistance or fail to perform required maintenance, we rely on Vintage and their team to coordinate directly with them to ensure the work is completed and lease obligations are met. As a locally owned company, Leon and Gavin consistently communicate clearly and set defined expectations. They provide detailed breakdowns of scope, timelines, and costs for each project, creating transparency and accountability when working with individual tenants. Vintage has also been a valuable resource for our commercial real estate clients. In one recent instance, what appeared to be a minor leak in a vacant retail space turned into a significant repair issue, plumbing, flooring, drywall, cabinets, paint, the works. Having a trusted local expert who can work directly with insurance companies and adjusters and ensure the awarded amount accurately reflects the true cost of repairs and damages is exactly why we continue to use and confidently recommend Vintage Reconstruction to our clients.

Vintage Construction staff are professional, hard working, and trustworthy. The work they did to bring our home back from a fire was stellar. We had several issues with planning and completing the repairs because of how old the home was, as well as issues with electrical work done by a previous company. Vintage Construction handled every pivot with grace, compassion, and honesty. Michael, the superintendent, communicated with us every step of the way, and more importantly, he was present and available to check the work and answer any questions we had. His whole crew showed the same care and attention, and they were kind and respectful to us and our home. We couldn’t be happier with Vintage Construction, and we will actually be working with them for future work on our home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of residential insurance claims do you handle?

We manage reconstruction for property damage caused by water, fire, smoke, hail, wind, vandalism, and vehicle impacts. We also handle specialized cases such as tornado damage and estate or death claims.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry full General Liability and Workers’ Compensation insurance to protect your property and our crews throughout the project.

Can I remodel or change my layout while you’re doing insurance repairs?

Yes. Since we are already on-site and the home is often already "opened up" for repairs, this is the most cost-effective time to make changes. We can help you move walls, change your floor plan, or upgrade your materials beyond what the insurance covers. You can learn more about our remodel services on our remodel page here.

How do your costs align with local price guidelines?

We use Xactimate and Symbility, the same estimating software used by the insurance industry. This ensures our pricing stays consistent with what adjusters expect to see for home repairs.

Who handles the building permits?

Vintage Reconstruction handles the entire permitting process, including filing paperwork and coordinating all required city or county inspections.

How are change orders and unexpected costs handled?

If we find unforeseen damage during the job, we discuss it directly with your insurance carrier. For any elective upgrades you request, we provide a price estimate for your approval before that work begins.

What kind of warranty do you provide?

We provide a warranty on all work once the project is finished, the final invoice is paid, and you have signed a Certificate of Satisfaction.

How will I be updated on the progress?

We set up a dedicated communication method, typically via text or email, between you and your assigned superintendent. You’ll receive regular updates and photos from start to finish.

What are my financial responsibilities?

You are responsible for your policy deductible, any unrecoverable depreciation, and the cost of any elective upgrades or change orders not covered by your insurance.

Can I stay in my home during construction?

This depends on the scale of the damage. For smaller repairs, you can usually stay home. For major renovations where utilities are interrupted, it may be better to stay elsewhere temporarily.

What happens to my furniture and belongings?

If necessary, we can coordinate the packing, moving, and storage of your contents. We can store items on-site in a portable container or off-site at a secure facility.

Who is supervising the work?

A Vintage superintendent is assigned to your project to coordinate all trades and timelines. They serve as your single point of contact and ensure the work is done correctly.

Can I have you do work beyond what is included in the repair estimate?

Yes. Many homeowners choose to add extra projects while we are already there, such as painting rooms that weren't damaged or replacing a front door. We simply treat this as a separate "non insurance" portion of the contract and provide a clear estimate for the additional labor and materials.

Do I have to replace damaged items with the exact same materials I had before?

No. Your insurance policy is designed to pay for the cost of "like kind and quality" materials, but you aren't forced to use them. For example, if you had carpet that was damaged, you can apply the insurance allowance toward the cost of installing hardwood or tile instead. You just pay the difference in material costs.

How does the pricing work for upgrades?

We separate the costs. Your insurance carrier pays for the "like kind and quality" repairs to get you back to your original state. We then provide a separate estimate for the "overage" the difference in cost for higher-end materials or additional square footage that you choose to add.
